An extensive 60-day journey circling Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been hiking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The liner left without her and returned several hours later after the ship staff realised the lady was unaccounted for.

A major search operation discovered her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".
