It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
